Galen must flee the warzone in the Prince's Islands to a new land named Voulhire, where his late uncle left him a small fortune. Voulhire has many provinces within itself, and Galen happens to go to a small quiet town. Other characters don't have that privilege, as the town called Hillport has been struck with tragedy with two horrible lord before him; it is on the new lord Eldus to make things right and bring peace to the locals. The King, however, has a different problem with only a handful of loyal people around him, he is faced with difficult decisions. While all of the characters were busy doing their own things, a common enemy is gaining more and more power.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is the first book in the series written by Matthew Tysz. It is a fantasy/sci-fi book filled with everything you would expect. There is magic and explanations for where the magic comes from and how to use it, as well as sneaky strategies because everyone wants the throne for themselves.

This book is written in a way where it switches between many different POVs. It is a style of writing I personally really enjoy. The characters are very lovable all in their own ways, and I had no trouble quickly relating to them and their struggles. The fantasy world of Voulhire is amazingly designed; the author writes about the higher ups as well as the lower class citizens so you can see the ways they deal with their own problems, almost like you are a part of the actual Kingdom.

The only thing I somewhat hate about this book (even though I understand that this is only the first book in the series) is the fact that there is no real plot. Not even a beginning to a plot; this whole book is just an introduction to a bunch of characters. I also dislike the lack of female characters.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars, even without a real plot, it was a quick and fun read. The book is meant for a 17+ audience as there is a lot of swearing and adult jokes. It was very well edited, there were no errors. I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy and to people who like the changing POVs between characters style of writing.
