Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Galen Bray learns that his uncle has died, and he is the sole beneficiary of the inheritance. He currently lives in the Land of the Princes, and his life has been extremely difficult here. With the help of Rowan, his uncle's solicitor, he is relocating to Magnum Caelum to inherit a blacksmith business that had been established by his uncle and to also continue the legacy. Other than that, he is hoping to build a good life for himself.
Voulhire is a kingdom headed by King Wilhelm. Its capital city is Soulhire, and it is so vibrant, as described by Isla. Voulhire has several parts headed by Lords. Lord Eldus is the newly appointed Lord of Hillport. It was previously headed by two vile lords, Orlin and Meldorath. The residents of Hillport are still plagued by what they had to endure during the reign of the two. Lord Eldus, his wife, Charlotte, and their children, Marshus and Isla, are on a mission to revive happiness in Hillport.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is the first of the nine books. It is an action-packed fantasy novel. There are many characters in this novel, and each of them has been introduced by Mathew Tysz in an interesting way that does not overwhelm the reader. Galen is my favorite character because he is so generous, kind, and easy to trust. Galen had never, in his life, met with his uncle. He is sent papers to relocate by his uncle's solicitor, and he takes action on it without thinking of what will happen in the unknown land that he is moving to.
At the beginning of this book, the author has included a map of Voulhire. It is a product of his imagination and creativity. It gives the reader a clear picture of the location of every city. You didn't understand some of the terms used in this book? Worry not; the glossary terms at the end of the book will give you definitions of words.
This book has alternating points of view. The chapter with Galen's Bray as the topic is narrated in the first person point of view while the rest is in the third person. This can be a bother to some readers. Also, I found this book tedious when I started but later came to enjoy it and appreciate the author's imagination. It has been exceptionally edited, and I rate it four stars out of four stars.
I highly recommend it to adults who love action-packed fantasy novels. It is not good for children because of the profanity.
