Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a tale of a vast kingdom and its citizens. It is a tale that demonstrates the political, religious, and power-seeking desires of man and the lengths to which he will go in order to achieve his goals. This science fiction tale involves magic. The small town of Hillport in Voulhire City, which has experienced a great deal of drama and trauma because of the rule of its forebearers, Lord Orlin and Lord Meldorath, is highlighted in this tale. Despite being killed and having his army massacred, Lord Orlin's actions were never proven. King Idus founded the city of Voulhire and did everything in his power to bring the powerful kingdoms together.
The character, Lord Meldorath, is one of my favourites in this novel. The entire city of Vôhire is kept on edge by him. He has everyone in fear. Despite the fact that he may be perceived as the antagonist of the story, he exhibits genuine strength and patience. In fact, he effectively uses his cards to achieve his goals and vanquishes every challenger. The story was so fascinating and was able to win and keep my affection for it because of the way it was introduced. I must state that this is a work that absolutely must be read. Additionally, I appreciate that the author took the effort to create a glossary for the book. This aided my comprehension of the book.
One of my issues with this book was the way it ended. There was so much suspense, and I really wanted to know what would happen in the end, but I feel like the story is half-baked, not really telling us the end of what Hillport will face with the return of its old Lord, the reaction from Mianora, and the steps King Wilhelm will take against his old friend, so I suggest the book needs a part 2. Another issue is with the arrangement of chapters. The way the characters are arranged might cause difficulty in understanding when reading. Because Mr. Matthew talks about a particular character in chapter one, another in chapters two and three, and you get to meet the character of chapter one again in chapter four, you just begin to retrace your steps to the previous chapter to be able to understand who you are reading about.
This book was exceptionally well edited because I found no mistakes. I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because I really enjoyed reading it and found no errors of any sort.
So I recommend this book to anyone interested in magic and fantasy novels and also to those who are politically driven.
