We are Voulhire( A new arrival under great skies) by Matthew Tysz is a fictional novel where the scene is set in an ancient time in the kingdom of Voulhire.

At first, the author introduces us to the political drama unfolding in the kingdom of Voulhire. We can clearly see the administrative structure where the supreme leader is king Wilhem, he has the power to appoint Lords who are basically in charge of smaller regions and act as the king's representatives. Ironically the king cannot choose who should succeed him, that power lies with the order of Minoran whose leader is the chancellor Midus Maido and their sole duty is to prevent feuding siblings from claiming the throne. In the book, the author includes magic where some characters have the power to perform superhuman deeds called mages. One of the most prominent mages in Voulhire is Lord Meldorath who was once a friend to the king and general of the southern army, his power is exceptional and even rumored to superceed that of the Eiodi the religious figurehead in Voulhire and head of the church. In this book, the main focus is on the town of Hillport a coastal town in Voulhire whose new lord is Eldus Alderman a former judge in the capital Soulhire. Hillport being a coastal town its inhabitants mainly practice fishing. Though it may have numerous resources it is still poor compared to other towns like Virko which is an industrial hub. Lord Eldus Alderman as portrayed by the author is an intelligent man with a lot of merit from the king and is entrusted with the duty of turning Hillport into a successful town to rival even Virko itself.

We also get to see other major characters in the book like Galen, who comes from the land of the princes which is at constant war with itself, and Rowan who worked in Soulhire for financial institutions and was the executor for Galen's uncle. We also get to see Demetrius who is a monk and an imbuer for the Eiodi. Galen is rescued from the land of the princes by Rowan who was following the wish of Galen's uncle who was a prominent blacksmith in Magnum Caelum. The author shows Galen as a kind man who treats his friends nicely and has honest dealings. Rowan offers to help him with the forge which eventually leads them to Yamon Soul, the religious capital where they meet Demetrius and the three set off together to Magnum Caelum.

I found this book very interesting to follow as the author took the time to properly introduce the origin of all the characters in the novel, due to this fact readers are able to comprehensively understand what's happening at each point of the story and are able to properly relate with the story itself. Another positive aspect I found about the book is the author included a reference guide at the end of the novel to explain the complex vocabulary used in the book so that even first-time readers of the Voulhire series can also easily understand the story and enjoy it. I also loved the way the author portrayed the character of Galen who is an honest man, also Lord Eldus Alderman who despite being a Lord is humble as this is clear when he visits one of his subjects without his bodyguards. I found the book to be exceptionally well-edited.

In conclusion, there is nothing to dislike about this book. The book has an interesting appeal told in an ordely flow which will leave you anxious to read the next chapter and the next. I would rate the book four out of four stars. This book is recommended for anyone who enjoys drama, fiction and action-based stories.
