In his mesmerizing book We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, Matthew Tysz creates an integrated magical world in which multiple stories unfold and through which he conveys concepts such as friendship, spirituality, and wisdom. Being the first of the We are Voulhire books, the book is considered an entry to the series. In this 190-page book, the author takes you on a journey to the enchanted world he created.

The book tells the story of the Kingdom of Voulhire, in which magic spread, and is based on three pivotal tales. The first is about Lord Orlin and his war against the magistrate Meldorath, who seeks to claim sovereignty.
The second is the one in which the writer swipes to focus on the young Galen, the main hero in the book, who tries to escape the arduous war in his homeland. To do so, he gets on a ship and makes his way into the sea to reach Magnum Caelum, hoping this trip changes his miserable future. And the third, where Mathew sheds light on Lord Eldus, chosen by King Wilhelm to move to Hillport to take over the duties of its former Lord, Orlin. Indeed, the judge carries out his king's order and travels to the determined destination on a journey that would turn his life upside down.

Different characters, different journeys, and different destinies that change constantly throughout the book, especially when the leading characters begin to share their fates, forming thus the story, whose actions braid together until they reach the end of the book.

The book is full of positive aspects. In terms of structure, it is very consistent; as I read it, I didn't feel lost or confused. Also, the general portrayal of things and places, the movement of the characters, and the description of their confrontations were wonderfully written. While reading, I felt like watching a full, well-produced movie with well-mastered scenes, which demonstrated the writer's ability to draw the movement of the different characters and describe their surroundings.

I was thrilled when I noticed that the names of the characters, such as Rowan, Demetrius, Keiser, and others, seemed to be as if they were from diverse identities and cultures of the real world. I believe the writer tried to gather different nationalities from this globe within his small, imagined world. I raise my hat to the author's enthusiasm, which was evident in the book, starting from his words about Voulhire’s world, passing by the combination of the colloquial and formal language and the map of the kingdom, to the glossary in which the significant figures were mentioned and defined by a brief description about them.

I did not find any negative aspects in the book except for the use of some profane words and the lack of page numbering. However, this didn't affect my overall amusement with the experience.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. It had minor errors, was well-punctuated, and was clear. Actually, I am quite excited to read the second book of this series.

I highly recommend it to adventurous people with a fertile imagination who like to read books filled with adventures and magic and those who love books of fantasy and fiction natures, as they are the most suitable audience for this book.
