Review of The Devil Pulls the Strings
The Devil Pulls the Strings, written by J. W. Zarek, is a fantasy book that involves time travel. It starts with a fight between Boone Daniels and Flynn, where Boone injures his friend Flynn. Due to the injuries, Boone agrees to stand for him in his band in New York City. Boone goes to New York City to meet their contact, Professor Stone. When he arrived, he saw a dead body and a piano falling from the balcony. He finds out that the body belonged to the professor, but in the professor's house, Sapphire was there, who was the professor's assistant and a French diplomat. Sapphire and Boone were introduced to a secret society that the professor was a member since it was necessary to protect the mystical relics. Boone starts having future visions of events, some of which he can prevent while others he doesn't think are possible. He travels through time across the world; where he travels through the past. The book follows some twists of plots that are charming.
What I loved most in this book was the layered and wonderful relationship between Boone and Flynn. Boone injures Flynn, and since he is incapable of standing in his band, Boone represents him and faces troubles, but he is not upset since their friendship is strong. Also, I liked the plot twists, which involved traveling in time and the magical world. There are also sharp twists that involve betrayal and devastation, which makes the reader attentive not to miss any bit of it since it is charming. I will not mention the sharp twists since it will create a spoiler. Finally, I liked the use of dialogue in conversations among characters since it made the characters engaging and the story lively, even though it was fiction.
I did not find anything to dislike in this book since it was great. The setting was unusual but admirable, with well-developed characters; hence, nothing to dislike.
I rate The Devil Pulls the Strings by J. W. Zarek four out of four stars. The book was exceptionally well-edited; hence, I found no errors. It had many positive aspects and no negative aspects. The author combined different genres such as fantasy, action, and adventure, making them flow as impressive one. Since the book was great in every aspect, I gave it a perfect rating.
I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy novels with action and adventure. They won't be disappointed since it contains action and adventure. The action part contains death and violence, and the adventure part involves Boone's time travels, where he meets strangers who give him magical devices.
