We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a science-fiction fantasy novel by Matthew Tysz. King Wilhelm along with Midius Maido, the chancellor who had been the head of the Mianoran council, ruled the kingdom. The kingdom is naturally equipped with everything for its success. Voulhirians had the special skill of obtaining magic powers through meditation. Even though the kingdom possessed natural sources for its success, the rulers fought for maintaining their power over each other. The politically corrupted kingdom didn’t do any good to its people. King Wilhelm sends his former magistrate Eldus Alderman, as the Lord of Hillport. He was a dedicated lord for his kingdom and wanted the best for his people. Galen Bray, the protagonist of the novel, arrived at Magnum Caelum from the land of princes, he was the heir to his uncle’s forge and property. Eventually, he engages with his uncle’s executor to find out about a rare rock found in Alcovia. What is the mystery behind this incident?

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is the first book of nine books. At first, I needed clarification on the rapid twists and turns of the story. Which was interesting, and made me curious. Each chapter was dedicated to different characters and different parts of the kingdom. That was easy to fully understand the characters and their environment. The author’s excellent writing skills completed the puzzle at the end. I was curious about the connections between the characters. My favorite part of the story was the mystery of Lord Meldorath. Was he executed? What’s his influence on the kingdom? Did he have any connection with Riva Rohavi (the dancing terrorists)? What was the plot against Lord Eldus? Read the book to find out answers to the above questions.

Reading this book was like watching a drama. Matthew Tysz has exceptional skill in creating this imaginary world of Voulhire and its people. It was fascinating how the author related rock-paper-scissors, spa, gym, and sports such as hockey and football to his narration. The author states that improved spirituality through meditation might master time and beyond. The map of the kingdom at the beginning, and the glossary at the end, were included for the reader’s reference.

There was nothing for me to dislike in this book. But I found myself struggling to read small letters in PDF format. And page numbers were not included. I did not find any errors or grammatical mistakes.

The book was well-written and well-edited. Therefore I am glad to offer 4 out of 4 stars to We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies.

I recommend this book for adults, those who like to read science and imagination that blends with suspense. As this book has some graphic content of brutal events and profanity, I do not recommend this book for children and sensitive readers.

I do believe our minds are very powerful...so that might not be sci-fi after all.

What on Earth are dancing terrorists? That intrigued me...
