Matthew Tysz´s book We are Voulhire: A new arrival under Great Skies poses an introduction to the universe where several countries can be found and among them Voulhire. The story unfolds through the perspectives of several important characters, who allow the reader not only to get to know them but also the whole world in this book. One of them is Galen Bray, a young man, whom the reader meets upon his arrival to Voulhire from his war-struck homeland and right away Galen starts to learn about the mysterious country together with his new-found friends. Another important role in the story plays the king of Voulhire, Wilhelm Arcolo, and the politics that surround his court in the capital. Last, but definitely not least, a significant part of the story revolves around Eldus Alderman, the new lord of the city of Hillport, a place that will come to play an important role in the upcoming events, just as the greatest threat, that most of the inhabitants of Voulhire had come to think of as dead, makes itself known again.

As mentioned above, this book poses just an introduction to the fascinating fantasy world of Voulhire and the story will be continued in its sequels. As such, it is meant to guide the reader through this world. The book fulfils this goal perfectly, walking the reader through the world, explaining briefly the history of Voulhire, specifics of the regions that comprise the country, the nature of the people inhabiting it and also manages to brush upon the topic of magic and its place in this universe, that will clearly come to play an important role further down the story. Nonetheless, the book does not end up being just a boring characterization of a new universe. Instead, it neatly combines vivid descriptions with a captivating, nicely paced plot, that starts to unravel right from this first book of the series and well-written characters that I got attached to quite quickly.

I found it hard to find any problem with this book or the story it tells. It is that rare type of book, that I liked exactly the way it was written. Nothing stood out to me as a negative, either connected to the editing or the plot, that would need to be corrected.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars as I see no reason to give it anything else than a full score. It was very well edited and I found no error with the writing, the story, or any other aspect of the book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of fantasy, especially if it is taking place in a setting of an alternate universe vastly different from Earth. While I was reading this book, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a new fascinating fantasy story and I am definitely planning on reading its continuation as soon as possible. I would highly suggest this book to anyone who is looking for a new high-quality fantasy adventure.
