Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is about the ordeals and experiences of Galen Bray in the land of Voulhire. Galen made a daring escape from the Land of the Princes in search of a better life. The Land of the Princes was ruled by the four sons of a wise but wicked emperor. The emperor suspected his sons of planning to overthrow him. He decided to give each of his sons a small chain of islands to rule. Soon greed overtook the princes and they fought one another to gain control of all the islands. The Land of the Princes was consumed by hunger and suffering. This was the situation Galen fled from.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a fantasy thriller written by Matthew Tysz. It is set mostly in Voulhire. It begins with a captivating prologue that sets the tone of the book. It also spiked my interest in the book. It contains a glossary of terms unique to Voulhire. There is also a link that leads to a page for extended reading about the country of Voulhire. The extended reading contains more information about the history of Voulhire and the world in which it is located. I appreciate the number of details Matthew Tysz gave to this fictitious creation.
I like how descriptive and eloquently written this book is. This enabled me to visualise the scenes, characters and their actions. The story itself is great. It was not drawn out in a way that could be boring. Also, details and events weren't rushed over. Matthew Tysz is a good storyteller. People who aren't fans of fantasy fiction will enjoy how well-written it is. I truly enjoyed reading it.
I observed that the chapters of this book are not characterised by numbers but by theatrical titles only. Although creative, I found this to be very inconvenient for reference purposes. I went back to reread several chapters I enjoyed. Each time I was tasked with trying to remember what the chapter was called to reread it.
This book is very captivating, descriptive and suspenseful. I found no errors in it. It told a beautifully written story. It is well-written and professionally edited. The lack of numbered chapters didn't affect my reading experience. Therefore I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I had no reason to deduct a star.
I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy novels. If you're looking for a good story and you don't mind magic and fantasy, you should enjoy reading this book.
