Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Young Galen prayed to God that someone would come and save him from the misery he called his life. He was not close with his extended family members and was left to fend for himself alone. Even worse, the Emperor of Lullabies decided to make his country a playground and used his cunning talents to plunge his country into a war with its neighbors. Thankfully, he got the news that his distant relative had kicked the bucket but had named him his heir. The estate, which was now to be Galen's, was in another country called Voulhire. Thanks to his newfound wealth, Galen could now leave his home country and start afresh in a new, peaceful one. Although Galen would be a refugee in Voulhire, he was determined to succeed. But it seems like the evil that plagued his home country is slowly making its way into Voulhire. Who will be brave enough to stop this evil from swallowing Voulhire whole?
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies was divided into several subplots. One of the subplots focused solely on telling us Galen's story after escaping his war-torn country. Another described the havoc that enemies of Voulhire were planning on wrecking. Yet another talked about Lord Meldorath's sentence after he did something evil to the people he was supposed to serve. There was no time the characters in each of these stories crossed paths with those in others. I want to believe that since We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is part of a series titled We are Voulhire, these stories will meet at a certain point sometime in the future.
What I like the most about We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is its clear description of the thoughts and actions of every single character in it. I felt Galen's pain when it seemed like all hope was lost for him. I understood Lord Meldorath's anger when his friend imprisoned him. I also understood the vindictive nature of the enemies of Voulhire (not that I wanted to, but the description helped put things in perspective for me). At the end of the day, the description was quite vivid, and I enjoyed seeing things through the lenses Matthew Tysz saw the world about which he wrote.
I've read many books Matthew Tysz has written over the years, and all his books are awesome. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is no exception. There were absolutely no negative aspects to this book. This fact makes it a novel that is very rare to come by in one's lifetime. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is the definition of a perfectly edited and structured novel that one can never get enough of. With a focus on the book's editing, I noticed that it was done exceptionally. All its aspects are positive, and I cannot make negative comments about it.
Hate is a pretty strong word, and thankfully, I have no reason to use it to describe anything in We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies. I did not dislike anything and ended up loving it all. Therefore, I cannot deduct a star from it for any reason. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies to people who love fantasy fiction series. It might just be the best fantasy fiction series people will ever read because of how carefully arranged everything is in the book. I am a die-hard fan of fantasy fiction and promise to follow the We are Voulhire series until its end. If you are a fellow fan, you will make the same promise after reading We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies.
