We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, by Matthew Tysz, is a fantasy book. Galen Bray migrated, after experiencing war all his life in the "Lands of the Princes," to Voulhire. In Voulhire, his late uncle left him an inheritance, and he had to continue his uncle's work as a blacksmith. Rowan, the executor of Galen's uncle's will, was ensuring that Galen got his inheritance and learned his uncle's trade. Would Galen find the peace and better life he sought in Voulhire? Was Rowan really with him because he was performing his duties as an executor, or did he have an ulterior motive?

Meanwhile, King Wilhelm of Voulhire had sent Lord Eldus to redeem the town of Hillport, a place that the king believed had great economic potential. However, Lord Eldus' predecessors were people of unpleasant report. Hence, Lord Eldus, who was ambitious, sought to unravel the mystery of the hold Meldorath had over his people. Meldorath was the former lord of Hillport. Would Lord Eldus withstand Meldorath's great magical powers?

The book is well organized and engaging. I like how the author unveiled his plots, weaving the use of magic into them. The dancing army battle really intrigued me. In addition, a part of the story was narrated in the first-person perspective, while the other part was narrated in the third person. I enjoyed the part in the first person, and I commend the author for his ability to present his story coherently with such elements.

Furthermore, regarding the characters, they're interesting. The author gives enough details about them that make them relatable, especially the focal characters, Galen and Lord Eldus. I liked reading about them. They're strong and determined men.

However, though the story was engaging, the author didn't show much of the story. A great part of it was just told, and that part was kind of flat. Moreover, the end of the book fascinated me, but I didn't enjoy the beginning and middle of it. I didn't see any captivating events until towards the ending. The author should have included much action. Besides, it ends in a cliffhanger, though it's the first book in a series. Thus, readers who don't like books that do not end in a satisfactory manner may not enjoy this one.

In conclusion, I rate We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies 5 out of 5 stars. Though a part of it feels vague, I couldn't rate it lower because it's coherent and engaging. Besides, it was professionally well edited; I encountered just one typo. It'll be a worthwhile read for fans of fantasy books, particularly those involving magic.
