Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a story full of adventures and actions. The young man, Galen, fled from the Land of Princes, where the war took place for years. He travels to the Kingdom of Voulhire to seek refuge and find his uncle, who summoned him to Magnum Caelum.
Galen finally arrived in Magnum Caelum after a days-long voyage. He was taken aback by the breathtaking scenery that lay before him. It was very different from the place he came from. Before him is a small town where stone houses were built, and the variety of colors that the lights emit from the houses added beauty to it. In this peaceful town of Magnum Caelum, Galen started a new life. He learned that his uncle passed away a few days before he arrived, but he left him enough fortune for him to be able to live comfortably while staying in Magnum Caelum. He wishes for him to continue forging swords on his behalf. Rowan became Galen’s guide and friend in Magnum Caelum. As he continues his uncle’s legacy, Galen has faced various adventures and met more personalities that affect him and his newfound life. What’s more for Galen to discover in the Magnum Caelum?
This book is consistent in drawing its reader’s interest by starting with a prologue that can stimulate one’s curiosity and excitement. I love how the author clearly narrates the scenario and is very detailed in describing the characters’ actions, appearance, and emotions shown in a certain event. For example, in the incident that happened inside the courtroom, the author has narrated this scene in a very detailed manner, which gives me a clear picture of what is happening and conveys the fear that those who witnessed the attack felt.
This book is worth five out of five stars because I enjoyed reading it from start to finish. As it is narrated from a third person’s point of view, it is easy for me to understand the flow of the story and to get to know the characters very well. The character development for Galen is also commendable. I love how he gathered strength and adapted well to a new environment that was foreign to him. Also, the author did not just focus on Galen’s story; it also revealed the opinions and sides of the other characters, which helped a lot to better understand the story. The editing team is also commendable for making sure that the book is free of errors.
I find no reason to hate the book because it is very entertaining. This book contains a few scenes that may not be appropriate for young readers; therefore, this is not the right one for them. However, if you are an adult and are looking for a book that is full of action and adventure, I highly recommend this one.
