Review of The Alchemist’s Journey

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Alchemist's Journey" by Jef Curlin.]
The Alchemist's Journey by Jef Curlin is an undeniable masterpiece. Featuring the supernatural, witches, mages, sorcerers, vampires, and even werewolves, this book spins a fantastic tale about a world unknowingly teetering on the edge of chaos.
Finn Graye, a knight who had previously worked hard for his position, is suddenly thrust into a formerly abandoned position when incredible tragedy strikes him. Working with his godfather, a very powerful being who, amusingly, spends most of his time as a cat, he begins to make considerable progress in his position as the alchemist. That is until he finds himself embroiled in a web of events. With his godfather's help, he begins to seek answers to some questions, but with each answer he receives, it seems the web becomes wider and more puzzling. Soon he realizes that he has been caught in the middle of a large operation with so many persons involved, including possible warlocks. Hellbent on getting to the root of it, he begins another mission. With help from his godfather and all his friends, does he succeed? Especially when traitors are lurking on every corner?
I was completely impressed by this book, and it was literally spellbinding. I loved the representation of the supernatural and other realms. Unlike most supernatural books, it didn't get confusing trying to tell the supernatural beings apart from each other. I also appreciated that there was not a lot of focus on other realms and their existence, so it didn't get confusing or stressful trying to process a lot of information at the same time. I also absolutely loved the portrayal of the main character, Finn. Even though he was made a hero, he also was completely relatable, with bad decisions, human reactions, and emotions. Also, in the book, even though the intoxicating influence of power was clearly demonstrated, there was also a clear balance between that and successfully wielding power correctly. So there were characters that wielded immense powers but didn't let it get to them and also characters that got completely carried away. I did find this really comforting. The book was also professionally edited, and I could find no errors in it.
I didn't find anything to dislike about this book. It was beautiful, and I look forward to reading the second part. I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I gave it a perfect rating because I think it is utterly worth it. Since there is no aspect of the book that I do not like, the book deserves this rating.
Finally, I would recommend this book to anyone that loves supernatural and paranormal books.
