We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies. by Matthew Tysz is a captivating book from beginning to end. I found myself entranced by the magical world the author created. The author shows us the country of Voulhire through the eyes of different characters, giving an all around view of the country, from the eyes of a king, to eyes of the common man. This also gives the reader the understanding of how the country runs and the economic statuses of the villagers. While for now the characters do not know each other, the author seems to foreshadow that their paths are intertwined. Politics, fighting, betrayal, magic, and suspense await in every chapter. This book is just the beginning and already so much has happened.

We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies. is AMAZING! Hard to put down as you get swept away to a new land. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into this book. Unexpected twists kept not only the characters on their feet, but myself as well! The author paints a vivid picture, without losing the reader in excessive details. He helps us to see the pieces of a puzzle come together. As you watch these character's lives and see how they slowly come together, you can't stop reading. I like the story's opposition on traditional themes around romance. It is not a romantic, guy-gets-girl type, but instead like a chess game with characters each making their move for the checkmate. The characters are brilliant, as no two are alike in profession nor personalities. The author does a great job of integrating each character's background into the story as you read. It has multiple eyebrow-raising moments that caught me off guard. While it does have some scenes where fighting in described, he does not go into too much detail, which I appreciate. This book does not appear to have a good vs. evil theme, but instead exposes the good and evil in us all, and how our decisions can affect others.

I honestly have nothing negative to say about this book. I couldn't put it down and am excited to see what the next books have in store.

5 out of 5. This is a well edited book with no errors found. It keeps the reader guessing and enthralled. The magic and wonder is well described, and you feel as if you are watching a movie as you read.

I would recommend this book to readers who like adventure, magic, strategic books. This book shows multiple characters' growth and coming into their destinies.
