Review of Terms of Service
Craig W. Stanfill’s science fiction adventure novel Terms of Service is the first book in the series. The adventure story Terms of Service is filled with AI technologies, cyberpunk and action.
It takes place in a dystopian "Artificial Intelligence Surveillance State," in which AI runs every aspect of the life of the people. We follow the protagonist, Kim's journey as she learns the truth about the world she lives in. Kim has spent the last five years working for an AI company. Kim's duty is to manage and train AIs. Your social standing will increase if you abide by the rules and report those who break them. After a mishap, Kim's orderly life spins out of control, causing her to learn facts that could endanger the corrupt institutions of society and upend her way of life.
This book was fantastic to read. My favourite aspect of this book was the creation of the world. In this universe, technology and AI play a significant part in everything from determining the characters' diets to planning the ideal path for them to go. Because of this, reading it was quite interesting. One aspect of the world-building that I appreciated was that the author also took attention to various societal conventions and traditions, particularly those pertaining to gender.
I thought this book's setting was excellent. The setting in which the characters found themselves was carefully and perfectly stated by the author. Kim was a devoted character whose ability to see things clearly made me appreciate reading about her. I really liked the way the author explored the main character and the effects of AIs and Bots on people by using the other characters. Additionally, the book is well organized. Despite having a slow start, the plot moves forward without any problems.
The novel is really engaging and interesting as a result. I must declare that I had no problems with the book. The whole book is enjoyable to read. Even better, I intend to read the upcoming book in the series when it is published.
I found no typos or errors in the book, indicating that it has been professionally edited. The story is told in the third-person view. As a result, I give this science fiction adventure novel 5 out of 5 stars. Readers interested in science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, and government conspiracy ideas should definitely read this book, as it has it all. Additionally, I recommend mature audiences to read it because it contains moderate sexual content, borderline profanity and non-gender personal pronouns.
