Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice by Craig W. Stanfill is a thrilling book that focuses on the power of technology. Have you ever wondered what the world would look like if Artificial Intelligence controlled it? If yes, then this book is perfect for you. This book contains the themes of power, freedom, and love.

Kim worked at the Artificial Intelligence Company (the name of the company used in the book), training devices that could not think for themselves. She lived in a world where everything was run by technology, and every action was either rewarded or punished according to the law. Whatever the AIs wanted was what happened; even the choice of breakfast was dependent on whatever the refrigerator dished out. After birth, individuals were required to hand over their child to a mentor before their fourth birthday; that was the law of the land. Kim was not told the name of her birth-giver (as used in the book), and she had never been visited by her, which was not the case for everyone. Kim uncovers certain information that questions everything she has come to know. What discovery did she stumble upon? Read this book to find out.

The concept of the book is vast, but the author was able to simplify its complexity. His knowledge of artificial intelligence is visible throughout the book by the way he pays close attention to every detail of how technology operates. At the onset, I was a bit confused and found it challenging to comprehend the picture the author was trying to create, but as I delved deeper into the book, I was glued to every page. Every page had something new to reveal, and I just had to know how it was all going to end, but it turns out there is still more to come because this is just the first book in its series. The characters were well-developed, and I loved how the author could distinguish the kinds of Kim and other individuals she encountered on her expedition with her friend Shan.

One of the things I like about this book is the way the author developed the story. From the beginning of the story to the end, there was always something to keep the reader going and heighten their curiosity. I especially enjoyed it whenever the refrigerator disgorged food that wasn't to Kim's preference. It was amusing to imagine a refrigerator being in charge of my meal without having a say.

The characters use virtual reality to do tasks such as going to a game, meeting up with friends, etc., which is fascinating and got me imagining how exciting life would be if this were in play in this present age. This book has nothing to dislike; I loved reading every aspect. Therefore, I rate Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice 5 out of 5 stars because of the creativity put into it and because it is a well-structured book. Also, I admire that the book is exceptionally edited.

I recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi novels. The readers will get to understand the pros and cons of technology.

I loved the arguments between the refrigerator and Kim as well. They almost always cracked me up. And the housebot was so sweet, I loved that as well!
