Review of Terms of Service
Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice is a Science Fiction Novel that begins with Kim as the lead character. Kim finds herself in a high-powered Artificial Intelligent Civilization. Kim seems to have it all, a job she is doing well at, and a growing social status, but emptiness and loneliness plague her soul endlessly. This civilization seeks to destroy every trace of love, religion, and anything that goes against the slated terms of service. Craig W. Stanfill, in this novel, exposes corruption and dehumanization in an AI Civilization. Does Kim go on to discover the source of this plaguing emptiness and loneliness? What would you do if all you've known, even your memory, has been a lie? If every trace of love you have ever felt, was taken from you? Journey with Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice as it answers all the probing questions.
The novel was beautifully written, and I derived a lot from this piece. First, it was the creation of the AI Civilization; the description was so detailed that I could see the whole civilization through my mind. Although this is a science fiction novel, the author used understandable terminologies. That can be intellectually perceived by people who are not familiar with AI Jargon. I also was pleased with the character crafting; they did not feel canned, they felt real with different depths. The themes associated with this novel: love, friendship, and loyalty got to me. The lead character had to choose either the deceit of the civilization and a glaring possibility of a good life or intense suffering. Instead, she stood headstrong, rejecting the civilization's web of deceit, choosing to find truth, freedom, and what it means to be human. This sent a wave of motivation down my spine, giving me the courage to face the truth and seek it at all costs, defying the numerous web of deceit that may surround my life. This novel is truly a work of art, crafted with the mechanics of science, and painted with the colors of humanity.
In reading and understanding this novel, I had no regrets. As such, there is no negative input regarding this novel on my part. Despite this, I feel some people may be bothered about the pronoun generalization of the characters. Although this was quite necessary for the author to do because the civilization in which the book was set in was trying to terminate genderism. The situation may hinder the quick identification of the different genders of the character. In my experience, if one pays attention to the dialogues between characters, sexual encounters, and their different situations, necessary characters will be identified with ease.
Despite the minor situation that I consider to put some readers off, this book was an incredible read for me, and for that reason, I will give it a rating of five out of five stars. I did not give it a lesser rating because from what I noticed, this book was exceptionally edited, and I found no grammatical or spelling errors. The plot was not boring nor soggy, I kept looking forward to the plot's advancement. I also like the description of the book, even the book's setting seemed real to me.
I will recommend this book to both the old and the young, but especially to those who enjoy topics related to the advancement of science and technology. If you are out there, and a fight for truth and freedom is your call anytime, then this book will leave you refreshed.
