Review of Terms of Service
Our world is changing very fast; there's a lot of discovery and rapid growth in the technology industry. It will come to a point where we will have artificial intelligence doing everything for us.
In this book, Terms of Service: Subject to change without notice, Craig W. Stanfill introduces us to a world governed and ruled by an artificial intelligence government. In this universe, self-centeredness, bias, and inequality are unacceptable. To achieve this, people must agree to artificial intelligence companies' terms of service. Kim, a young woman, works for an artificial intelligence company as an AI trainer. She is innocent and seems satisfied with her job at the AI company. Still, she is deeply damaged and traumatized, evidenced by feelings of loneliness, sadness, despair, and hopelessness. One day, Kim and Shan go biking on a deserted road that is out of bounds. While there, they lost their way home, and while trying to trace it back, they committed a serious breach. Kim expects punishment, but instead, she gets promoted to work with high-order AIs (become a creator). At this point, the story moves at a fast pace. Kim learns the dark truths of the AIs and discovers the sources of her trauma.
I found likable aspects in this book. First, Craig W. Stanfill's good background in artificial intelligence and his experience in technology have provided well-defined scientific vocabulary in the story and a hint of what our future or tomorrow will be with technological progress. The author summarized the AI company's terms of service at the beginning to familiarize readers whenever they came across them in the story. The author provided a note at the beginning to notify readers of the reason for use in the story. I also loved Craig W. Stanfill for reminding us that humans cannot function well without emotional feelings. In addition, the book depicts how those in positions of power and authority can use artificial intelligence to maintain a dictatorship in governing society. The writing style was exquisite.
I didn't observe any negative aspects, grammatical, typographical, or punctuation errors to comment on the book. The authors did beautiful work.
I rate it 5 out of 5 stars as it was well-written and exceptionally edited, and also, considering its positive aspects, it deserves a total rating.
I dedicate this book to those who have studied artificial intelligence as their field, those who love the science fiction genre, and those who want to learn more about AIs.
