Galen Bay, from the Land of Princes, is given once in a lifetime opportunity to move it the main Kingdom/land, Voulhire, where he inherits his great uncle’s estate in Magnum Caeleum. We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies, by Matthew Tysz, is a fantasy novel, taking place in the fictitious Kingdom of Voulhire, where the story follows Galen in his journey from his escape from the Land of Princes to Voulhire, hoping to live a quaint life. However, problems soon arrive brought by the rebels known as Riva Rohavi, and a prisoner, so powerful and magical. Where the king wishes to safeguard his nation, he seeks help for the Mianoran knights, but the first knight is nothing more than childish. But havoc wreaks through the cracks of Voulhire, as betrayal and despair rise all around the king, and Galen.

This book is the first in its series, and must I say, one of the best fantasy books I’ve read in a while. Tysz mastered the art of suspense, writing twists in each chapter as well as created beautiful imageries and descriptions for us, the readers, to envision. The chapters differ from first T person to third person points of views, but that doesn’t always cause issues or confusion with the flow of the book, as it helped me envision it like a TV series, which background secedes and different perspectives.

My personal favourite part of this book would be Galen, the main character. His character is so calm and normal, it’s refreshing; unlike any of the protagonists in other books where they’re full of themselves and already a know-it-all, albeit being a new-comer. His character is a learner, and not at all a “brat”. I love him.

There is minor use of profane language, but not enough to deteriorate any young readers, however I would still not recommend it to anyone below 15. This book deserves its full starts, 5 out of 5. It was a quick and enjoyable read, and I would 100% recommend this book to all my friends who enjoy such genres.
