Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Galen Bray is a citizen of the war-torn Lands of the Princes, where every citizen has witnessed civil wars, poverty, and hunger. By chance, he is given the opportunity to move to Voulhire, a prosperous kingdom with a rich history and shaky political stability. Evil mages and a bloodthirsty group of sadists known as Riva Rohavi are threatening Voulhire's current peace and security. Not only must Voulhire's King Wilhelm face these sinister elements, but he must also face the head of the Mianoran Council, Midius Maido. Maido is a haughty, sneering heavyweight whose true intentions are unclear. Lord Eldus Alderman is one of King Wilhelm's few real allies. Lord Eldus takes on the task of repairing Hillport, whose residents have been physically, psychologically, and financially abused by Lord Eldus' predecessors.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an epic novel and also the first part of We are Voulhire(series), and it introduces readers to an incredible new world of knights and traitors, kings, and court intrigues, honest labor, and magically earned artifacts. The author describes this fantasy land and all of its cities in detail, including the religious beliefs of their inhabitants. Every city serves a specific purpose, whether it is for fishing, industry, religion, or governance.
Surprisingly, the book begins by introducing readers to Galen, who was neither king nor judge. He was an ordinary man who received an inheritance that altered the course of his life. However, his character is mentioned several times throughout the book. What role does a commoner play in the king's plot? Is the answer even in this book? Readers must decide for themselves.
Matthew Tysz has created a fantastic world full of interesting characters and charming towns. In the story, there are mages and superhuman beings. Nonetheless, these fantastical elements do not overpower the story. This is one of the novel's strongest points, in my opinion.
This book had nothing I might hate about it. I tracked down no grammatical mistakes while perusing, so I presumed that the book was expertly altered, and it was my pleasure to give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
Since the book contains obscenity, upsetting scenes, and sex shoptalk, I wouldn't prescribe it to a delicate or more youthful crowd, as well as the people who don't really want to learn about dream universes that have no association with this present reality.
