Terms Of Service by Craig W. Stanfill is a dystopian science-fiction set two hundred and fifty years in the future. In this world, everyone is constantly being watched and controlled by the government. The food they eat, the pronouns they use, and even the people they have sex with are decided by the government or government-controlled apps. Surprisingly enough, almost everyone has no problem with this totalitarian system of government, and most people even encourage it. The main character, Kim, is one such person. That is until she goes on a seemingly harmless cycling trip with her friend and discovers secrets that their government has hidden from the public. What will happen to Kim now? Get a copy of this book and find out.

When I started reading this book, I expected it to follow the overused plotline of robots taking over the world. Thankfully, it didn’t. Instead, it had an original and unique plot, something that was only possible because of the author’s world-building skills. Since this book was set in a world that is very different from the one we, the readers, live in, it required exceptional world-building, and the author certainly delivered. There were no long, boring expositions. Instead, through Kim's eyes, we learn about her world in small bits.

I liked most of the characters in this book, but my favourite was Kim. We see her change from a coward, too scared to disobey authority even when they are clearly in the wrong, to someone who stands up for what she thinks is right, no matter the consequences. Her character development was done very well. This was aided greatly by the pacing of this book. It didn’t move too fast, so I was able to understand Kim and relate to her, and it wasn’t too slow, so I did not get bored.

There was nothing that I disliked about this book. It was exceptionally edited, as it contained no errors, and I enjoyed reading it.

I found this book very interesting, and I thought the plot was good, so after careful consideration, I’ve decided to rate it five out of five stars. I did not have any dislikes, so there was no need for me to deduct a star.

I recommend this book to people who like dystopian and science-fiction novels. I think they would like it because I certainly did. There are a few sex scenes, but they aren’t overly graphic, so I don’t think they would bother most people.
