Review of Terms of Service
Terms of Service is a science fiction novel written by Craig W. Stanfill. The main topic of the book is how artificial intelligence has been integrated into every aspect of the world and influenced people's daily lives. Humans were stripped of their autonomy, sense of reason, and daily control. The book emphasizes how technology and artificial intelligence (AI) may both enhance human lives and quickly destroy civilization as we know it. It also sheds light on a possible future, one in which we are becoming more and more reliant on technology for survival, and will eventually be ruled by it.
The protagonist of the novel is an AI trainer named Kim. She began working her dream job at the AI Company but she always had her entire day controlled by the same AIs. The system had control over everything she did, including what she ate, whom she went on dates with, what she did during the day and whom she moved about with. Kim is a rising star at the AI Corporation, where she trains and oversees "AIs," or sentient virtual reality "AIs," in a parallel dimension. She enjoys prosperity and luxury but isn't truly content. And what appears to be a simple bike ride sends Kim on a journey of discovery that threatens to demolish a corrupt government and society as a whole, sending her life spiralling out of control.
She had always questioned how the AIs seemed to know everything, so when she discovered the answers, she was shocked. She didn't want to sit back and watch as the artificial intelligence system continued to rule her freedom as well as the freedom of everyone else, so she decided to speak up for everyone who wanted their freedom back from the system.
I liked how the characters in the novel were so vividly unique. The novel is fascinating and engrossing; it makes you want to picture life in the future, when artificial intelligence and technology rule, and it left me hankering for a sequel. It also demonstrated how, given how reliant on technology we have become, we may easily allow artificial intelligence to take over without even realizing it. The book was excellent.
The book was fascinating and enlightening to read, with the only issue being that some sections were challenging for me to grasp.
I gave the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars since it was one of the most intriguing books I've ever read and had a highly exciting plot. The editing was well done, and the book included no mistakes. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes science or is interested in fictional literature.
