Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, written by Matthew Tysz, is a page-turning tale filled with mystery, drama, and action that brings us to a stunning country bursting with color, culture, and interesting people. Galen Bray, a young refugee whose long-lost uncle's passing left him his escape ticket from the notorious Land of the Princes, joins us as we discover the treasures of the land. In order to take care of the forge his uncle left behind, Galen travels to Magnum Caelum. In a different scenario, Eldus, the current ruler of Hillport, a city in Voulhire, is making a lot of effort to get rid of terror in his city and other hurtful deeds that Meldorath's predecessor had left behind. Strangely, it appears that every individual Galen talks to has lost all memory of the past. Despite being killed, there are claims that Meldorath is still alive and planning a horrible comeback in Voulhire.
A great lexicon of terms, concepts, and names unique to the Voulhire universe is provided at the end of the book. In order to help readers visualize the Voulhire realm, a map is also included at the beginning of the book. The plot of this novel is very compelling since it introduces a large cast of individuals, their functions, and unresolved conflicts. The author's thorough explanation made the plot easy to picture and comprehend. The characters were skillfully made. I appreciate how similar Galen Bray's persona is to someone who resides abroad. This is something the author did, and I must applaud him for it because it shows how much work went into writing this book. My favorite characters in the book so far are Rowan and Galen. Rowan's initiative to help Galen and their ability to come together despite having quite dissimilar upbringings and life experiences impressed me as admirable.
The book's plodding beginning and plenty of background information bothered me. It's challenging to remember all the characters and ideas mentioned in the book because there are so many of them. I really loved reading this book despite those problems. The plot took several interesting turns that kept me engaged. Reading such a fantastic and captivating book was nice.
I am rating this book, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, 5 out of 5 stars because it was entertaining and well written. There were no grammatical errors or mistakes in it; therefore, it was exceptionally well edited.
I would recommend this book to lovers of adventure, magic, and fiction.
