Terms of Service: Subject to Change without Notice, by Craig W. Satnfill, is a fascinating science and fiction work. The book describes how technology can control our lives. Every aspect of life, including dressing, preparing meals, and eating, is controlled by the Artificial Intelligence Company. The company which Kim, the main character in this novel, works for as an AI trainer. It also talks about life-work balance, where Kim and her friends set aside some time, when off-duty, to go partying, drinking, and adventuring. Craig also talks about the top-down type of leadership, where powers are bestowed on the top leadership. Another theme addressed by the book is romance, where Kim goes on romantic dates. It is also a requirement that parents must hand over their child to a mentor before they turn 4 years. This could explain why Kim does not know who gave her the name. In general, Craig is trying to compare the real world and the illusion world where everything is controlled by technology.

There are many things I liked about this book. I liked the way Craig developed and described characters. He did a great job, by first introducing Kim, the main character, to the readers before he could introduce other characters. Also, the characters were well-developed. All characters in this book were realistic, they were portrayed as ordinary beings. There was also a sense of humor, I found it funny that Kim argues with the fridge about the type of meal to serve. The book is thought-provoking. I was imagining how life would be if we were being controlled by artificial intelligence instead of our natural intelligence. Craig was also describing events in a way that I would get a clear picture of the setting of the imaginative world.

There are a few things I did not like about this book. I didn't like the idea of using alcohol and other drugs to induce intimacy. I also noticed a few cases of the use of profane words. Also, Craig took long to develop major events in the plot. In the beginning, I had a hard time understanding the flow of the novel.

Craig did excellent work, the negatives identified would not make me deduct even a star. Hence, I would give the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend this novel to lovers of books about advanced technology. I would also encourage those who love science fiction novels to read the book. Because of the explicit sex scenes in the book, I would discourage the young population from reading the book.
