Hey all,

Any recommendations for books that combine the elaborate characters and world-building of sci-fi/fantasy with comedy?

Or at least one with a strong comic character, like Ron Weasley in Harry Potter. I'm thinking like Got Fangs by Katie Maxwell or Aquamarine by Alice Hoffman. The funnier the better!

A. Lee Martinez, not sure if I would say his books are sci-fi/fantasy comedies. But I found his books amusing and his plot concepts are a bit different from other fantasy authors.

Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams are always a good start... Tom Holt also has some funny books. This Other Eden and Blind Faith by Ben Elton could also be counted as science fiction (or at least speculative futuristic fiction). This Other Eden is hilarious! Blind Faith is a bit more serious and thought provoking, although Ben Elton brings a dose of humour into all his work.

I would also recomend Pratchett and Holt. Also perhaps Jasper Fforde's Nursery Crime series.
