Review: Fire's Field by Jillian Jacobs

Post by naturalbri »

This series just continues to get better. I loved the first book in the series, so much so that I wasn’t able to put it down, and read it in only a few days. This book was even more addicting. I ended up reading it in one sitting…Yes, really.

I absolutely LOVED where Jillian took this series. In the first book we were able to get to know the elementals, finding out what part they played in the world and what they had to do to keep evil at bay. In Fire’s Field, we are introduced to fire, of more than one type, as a flame starts to grow between two characters. Jacobs has really written this paranormal romance well. The romance isn’t over the top, to shadow the true paranormal aspect of this elemental tale. It is enough to make the story heart-warming, exciting and give us that romantic feeling.

The characters in this book were brilliant. As with all Jacobs’ books, they are well developed and truly have great depth and personality. Each character is so real that you struggle to break your connection with them, when it comes time to put the book down. I felt so close to our main characters and the struggles (and love) they were going through, that I really felt a part of their lives.

As with the first book, the world and surroundings in this book are done exquisitely. None of the important details are left out, and all those little touches are added in, to really create a world that you can jump into and really feel you know.

The pace was done very well, as it was fast-paced enough to feel the rush in their adventure and the need to fight back. It also had moments that were slow enough to get to know the characters and to feel the romance blossoming between them.

Overall, I cannot fault this book. The more I read from Jacobs’ the more I love her writing. This book is engaging, addicting and exceptionally well written. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romances!
