We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is the first book in the series of nine books and is absolutely an amazing read, so immersive for the reader that the rest of the series will be devoured, as the book keep turning pages as it by itself. After all, it is a book of a magical world.

The main character is a young man, Galen Bray, the refugee from the Land of the Princes, hostile isles from which is nearly impossible to escape. Destiny brings him to the land of Voulhire, where we see the new world from his own perspective. Galen is the only character whom the author let speak from the first person. The author also introduces several important characters, each of them offering their own agenda, their deepest desires, personal thoughts and ambitions, all connected with the King Wilhelm of Voulhire, the land just entering its Golden Age.

What you can expect will be the land of prosperity with many hidden enemies and turmoil on its very doorstep. The fight between humans alongside with good mages against the malevolent mages and eons old terrorist group; and secret, magical ties between our physical world Cosmos and magical world Caromentis.

I love that the author uses so many archaic words, especially in the dialogues, as he is placing you in the times long gone even with the language itself. This fictional world is well described, even the connection and relations between three realms, as I have found it. Cosmos, the world we live in and the only we can comprehend; Caromentis, the magical realm mages are connected to with their abilities and evil ones with eternal strive to physically conquer it too; and lastly Alithea, the spiritual universe, from which one of the characters escapes to our lovely Cosmos.

This epic, magical book was exceptionally well edited, without a single mistake. Therefore, I am giving it 5 out of 5 stars.

Every fantasy or science fiction genre lover will be thrilled with this series. The first book is enough too hook you in for the other books that are following. I would recommend it to adult readers, it would not be suitable for the younger audience due to some very gore fighting and killing scenes described.

I am personally excited to have stumbled on this book and am patiently waiting for the rest of the series to see which path will our heroes take. This book was an excellent intro that leaves you with: "What happen`s next?"
