Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill is a book based on the development of Artificial Intelligence and the consequences of environmental change on humans. This is a book about the future. The world has changed, and AIs control every aspect of human life. Every service, including food, transport, and dating, was controlled by companies that specified their terms of service. The concept of self and gender has been eradicated, and anyone who expressed such was considered a cultist and punished in court.

The book is about Kim's journey to self-realization. For the longest time, she had a drinking problem, but what Kim did not know was that it was a consequence of separation from her birth giver. She was also separated from her childhood best friend after they broke school rules. Shan had been expelled while Kim got to stay in school. Kim was now an adult, and she heard that her friend was moving back to the city. She was both worried and excited to see her. As if it was fate, they got into trouble again when they traveled to restricted areas that the AIs did not want to be made known. What did Kim discover, and will they be separated all over again? Will Kim get away with it this time?

What I liked most about the book was the uniqueness of the storyline. I have never read a similar book, and I commend the author for this. The book is also ingenious, and Craig used his creative license to the maximum. Things such as weekdays are different from the real world. Moreover, beyond fiction, there is a deeper meaning to the book, where the author asks us to open our eyes to what is happening around us. Are we being controlled? Are we independent thinkers?

As much as I liked reading Kim's journey to sexual discovery, I felt as if the book was not as inclusive, which I disliked. However, this did not take away from the book. I give this book a rating of five out of five stars because it was distinctive from all the books that I have ever read. Besides, it is a creative story that most individuals can relate to. The book seemed professionally edited since I did not find any errors.

This book is more suited to a mature audience because it contains frequent romance scenes. I would recommend it to anyone who is going through self-discovery because I think they would gain great lessons here. I would not discourage anyone from reading it since it is suited to any group of people.
