Have you ever taken a minute to imagine the current world we are living in in a hundred years? This is in consideration of the great evolution of technology that we feel day in and day out. Terms of Service: Subject to Change Without Notice by Craig Stainfill has the pleasure of taking you through the futuristic world you would wish for or not. The book follows the life of protagonist Kim, who works at an AI company, which she truly considers her dream job. The "terms of service," as the title goes, literally set out the rules that govern Kim's life. Any moment one deviates from the rules, she is subject to punishment. Throughout her service, Kim feels she has made it through the job promotion but also feels that a part of her life has been suffocated. The AI's automation leaves freedom and privacy out of the zone of an individual's life. She is in constant argument with a refrigerator, which cannot allow her to eat a meal of her choice but always tells her how the company recommends specific nutritious meals for her. This creates a lot of emptiness in Kim’s life, resulting in her losing track of who she really is. At some point, she decides to go against the terms of service after realizing the world was more of what she had been automated into. Do you think she was subjected to punishment as stated before?

The intense adrenaline rush I experienced while reading this book kept me on edge the entire time. The author practically sped over the eras and provided nearly precise insight into what people should be anticipating. As the novel's plot developed on each page, the intricate twist made everything seem terrifying. I was genuinely feeling like a third party who completely understood Kim's complaints, as I was furious at the refrigerator for the food alternatives it offered. This was so thrilling. Excellent writing is used throughout. It was simple to follow the plot as it developed because there was sufficient background research. The author put a lot of effort into incorporating his futuristic viewpoint into the narrative, which convinced me that he knew exactly what was required of him. It's astonishing how quickly the future is set to materialize, and this was an insightful look into it.

Nothing in this book bothered me. The plot and every detail were incredibly relatable and close to the truth. I appreciated how the author used a twist to suggest that human demands for privacy, feelings, and freedom will always exist apart from artificial intelligence systems. The author handled gender identity, which is the subject that is most hotly disputed in the world, in a way that was inclusive. This increased the book's relatability.

I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. Because the author's work is so great and delightful to read, I am unable to take away a star. The absence of typos or grammatical mistakes indicates that the work was professionally edited.

I suggest this book to people who appreciate stories about artificial intelligence and advanced technology. This book provokes thought and offers a glimpse into the future. A really interesting read!
