Before I begin "reviewing" this book, I want to give credit to the author. Although I read this series a while back, I can still clearly remember most of plot's details due to Veronica Roth's wonderful writing! She kept the books interesting with her twisted and action-packed plot and had me on the edge of my seat, turning page after page to see what would happen next!
First off, let's begin with Divergent. I can only describe this book in one word- phenomenal. The pages reflected a classic story with a completely new twist by integrating three wonderful elements to make this the perfect dystopian young adult book- action, romance, & a crumbling society. The protagonist of this trilogy, Tris Prior, meets new friends, foes, and a love interest all while in an initiation competition that her life depends on.
Next, there's Insurgent. This book had just as many shocking moments, but Veronica Roth totally amped up the romance! Also, now the main conflict had changed from man vs. man (as in Divergent), but into man vs. society. In this book, Tris, Four, and some friends seek out help against their new enemy. On the last few pages of Insurgent, we basically hit the series' final peak in rising action!
Lastly, Allegiant. This book was good. Not phenomenal, not fantastic, not even great- just good. This book was basically a let down compared to the first two books. In my personal opinion, I believe the last book should end the series with a bang! Not have it be the worst book in the series. It lacked that edgy-bold factor that got Veronica Roth her Divergent fans in the first place. Although this conflict is solved and the climax was nothing short of intense, it is not the way anyone wanted the book, and series, to end.
Thanks for reading! Please comment any of your thoughts on this book below! :D
