Terms of Service* by Craig W. Stanfill is a phenomenal book which is engaging from the first page. I found it impossible to put it down. I finished it in two days.

I give this book 5 stars out of 5 . It was truly amazing. I enjoyed the introduction to the world of the AI’s and Kim’s reckoning with her part in it. We see her initially as an ambitious employee of the Transport Company. Her discussion with her refrigerator is comical and relatable. We can all empathize with her dislike for tofu and kale.

We then see her eyes being opened to the impact of her work on others. The AI’s power is remarkable. Once the concepts which govern the world were explained I empathized with Kim as she lived within it. The only area which I would have liked more clarify on was who controlled the drug and alcohol sales because it seemed like something the Hierarchy would benefit from and because each other item belonged to an AI company who did not like competition. It left me with questions particularly as both drug use and alcohol use were themes in this book.

I loved the concepts explored in this book, such as genderism and selfism and I loved meeting Kimby for the first time. The concepts of motherhood and sexuality were explored in a caring kind way and felt organic to Kim’s development.

All in all I would highly recommend this book to all. It will resonate with any lover of dystopian literature. In my opinion, it seems to fit in the young adult category however I would not let this limit the audience. I would not describe myself as a young adult and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
