Several centuries into the future, people live in a society controlled by artificial intelligence that overlooks all aspects of their lives. That is also the case with Kim, a promising employee of The Artificial Intelligence Company. At first glance, her life may look comfortable and pleasant as a life of a model citizen, but in reality, she is far from truly happy. One seemingly small incident sends her life spiralling out of control, and with every decision she makes, she finds herself being pulled deeper and deeper into the web of those who control her world. Terms of Service: Subject to change without notice by Craig W. Stanfill tells the story of Kim discovering the truths of her world and trying to regain her humanity and freedom along the way.

While reading this book, one can not ignore the parallels with G. Orwell´s 1984. In this story, the technology is, of course, on a much higher level than in 1984, which means more personal freedom for the characters but also a more significant invasion of their privacy. The author´s impeccable ability to explain this advanced technology and the workings of AI in a simple and clear way that is easy to understand, even for people who are not very familiar with this topic, is one of the book´s best aspects. The novel contains a noteworthy combination of great world-building and an engaging plot that makes the story flow smoothly and makes it easy to read.

To be honest, I find it difficult to name any negative aspects of this book. The writing, the story and the futuristic society work very well together and do not leave the reader feeling bored for even just a minute.

For the aforementioned reasons, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Even though I am not a big fan of futuristic stories, this book made me reconsider that statement. The end has left me intrigued as to how the story will continue. Thanks to that, I am definitely planning to read the following novel. The book is also exceptionally well edited.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of sci-fi or/and futuristic stories. The story would not disappoint them. At the same time, I would also recommend it to those who do like a bit of fiction but do not normally read this type of literature. I think this novel could be their introduction to this genre that they would enjoy.
