Do you enjoy reading fantasy fiction? Have you ever imagined living in a world where magic is normal? Do you believe in magic? Now, do you feel threatened by one of your own? Have you ever witnessed a civil war?

This book, Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz, is engaging fantasy fiction that is part of a series. The main character, Galen, whose country is ravaged by war, sets off on a river to collect his inheritance from a relative. It is on this boat that stories about the Emperor of Lullabies are narrated. The Emperor has four sons who pose a threat to his kingdom. He sends them to different places, but will the king’s fears come true? Who is Galen? Will Galen be able to inherit some possessions from his uncle? What is this book all about? How are the sequences of events connected?

I think the book cover is nice, though I thought it could have been just a bit better. I find that it is a little blurry, but that is just me. It might be perfect for some other reader out there.

I do not believe in magic, but this is fantasy, so anything can happen. Also, I can see why people are fascinated by magic. It's quite thrilling and suspense-filled. Fantasy is created to appeal to the reader’s imagination. I believe the author does a good job. The fact that this book is part of a series may excite the average reader.

I am a bit disturbed that a father does not trust any of his sons and, thus, sends them away from him! This is the reality of today's world. The hunger for power, fame, and wealth has caused many to live in fear and apprehension, even among their own family members. This is the atmosphere of reality that can be relatable to any reader out there. They become older and begin to rule their own kingdoms on islands.

I do not believe in magic, but I guess this is a book that dwells on a time where magic prevails. This is quite an interesting time because it's strange to use magic to wage wars or do anything at all. Many people may find nothing wrong with it. I do.

I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. The book is also professionally edited because I found only one error. I recommend this book for fantasy fiction lovers, for students, for creative minds, and for readers who want to explore their imaginations.
