Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, written by Matthew Tysz. Galen, a young man from the Lands of the Princes, is the main character of the major plot. Galen departs from the violent town of his upbringing for the vibrant nation of Voulhire, where he begins to discover his actual purpose in life after receiving a letter from a distant relative who lives in Magnum Caelum, in Voulhire. At his passing, Galen received the forge that his great uncle had owned in Voulhire. As he adjusts to his new life, we follow him as he learns his new trade and meets new people who are also figuring out their lives. King Wilhelm appoints Eldus Alderman, a former judge, as the new ruler of the modest but undeveloped town of Hillport. While Hillport appears peaceful from the outside, its two former lords, Orlin and Meldorath, have caused it enormous tragedy. Eldus realizes that it will be difficult to carry on the legacy of a powerful and feared mage like Meldorath, although both of them decided to commit sins that are punishable by death, as he works to make Hillport into the sparkling coastal hub he had imagined.
The author did an impressive job of bringing me into the world. He gave such vivid descriptions of the surroundings and the locals that they almost gave the impression that I was there in person. This book is fantastic. It's fascinating, gripping, and phenomenal to read. The writing is easy to read and makes it seem authentic. I enjoyed the way the author cast the characters in their respective roles. The book's organization impressed me. The characters' interactions with one another and the settings were easy to picture while reading.
The use of slang language in the conversation was the aspect of the novel that I did not enjoy, as it didn't fit the period of the novel. Other than that, it was a terrific book that I enjoyed reading. A glossary of words, ideas, and names specific to this novel was provided for the readers, which, I thought, was a really thoughtful touch. In this manner, a reader won't get sidetracked from the narrative every time they encounter an unusual phrase.
I am rating this book, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, 5 out of 5 stars because it was well organized and compelling. There were no grammatical errors or mistakes in it. Therefore, it was exceptionally well edited.
The book is highly recommended for readers who enjoy reading fiction and war stories.
