Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is the first book in the ongoing We Are Voulhire series, a science fiction/fantasy novel set primarily in the fictional world of Voulhire. The story is told from the perspective of numerous key characters, providing readers with a comprehensive view of this captivating world.
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies, Galen Bray, the protagonist, is forced to flee his war-torn home and seek refuge in the unfamiliar world of Voulhire. As he tries to find his place in this new world, he discovers that we are all connected by a thin strand of fate. Galen learns that one man's actions can cause a ripple effect across many lives, as a play is set in motion by forces beyond him, ultimately impacting his life and this new world he finds himself in.
Matthew Tysz's talent as a writer is evident from the first page of We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies. His vivid descriptions of scenes make it easy for the reader to visualize them, particularly in the fight scenes. Tysz's writing style makes every action seem realistic, without requiring a stretch of the imagination.
It adds a refreshing and captivating element to the story. By providing different points of view, the wide range of characters ensures that readers do not get bored following the narrative from just one perspective. Understanding a character's backstory makes them more relatable, even if their actions are not necessarily accepted. Matthew Tysz successfully accomplishes this in his book, making the characters more complex and intriguing.
I also appreciated how the author introduced new terms in a simple manner, preventing the reader from feeling overwhelmed by an influx of unfamiliar vocabulary that could slow down the reading pace or diminish interest. Overall, I give this novel a rating of 5 out of 5 stars for the sheer creativity required to construct such a complex and rich world, as well as for the other reasons I mentioned previously. I can't find anything wrong with this book.
The sustained degree of unpredictability throughout the narrative is something I really love about this book. While you might have an idea of where the story could shift, the author keeps you guessing and invested in the plot. This unpredictability, coupled with the well-executed action scenes, makes this book pure genius. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the sci-fi/fantasy genres and loves a good action novel. The editor also deserves praise for a job well done as I didn't notice any errors while reading. If there was a rating higher than 5 stars, I would award it to this book.
