Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a novel that I enjoyed reading. I like the author's writing style. The writing flows well and is a beautiful description of the characters' lives and personalities. The book's name sounds intriguing. I chose to pick it up and read it because of the lovely cover. The glossary and reference section included by the author in the book make it easier to understand the Voulhire universe.
The positive aspect of the book is that it is fast-paced. The story revolves around Galen Bray's new life. He is the character in the novel with whom I most related. He is innocent and has modest goals, despite having spent the past twenty years living in dread because of the war in his country. I was happy that he took the chance to leave his nation and travel to Magnum Caelum. I enjoyed how Rowan, his estate executor, assisted Galen in settling into life in Voulhire. Galen's existence will become more interesting as he inherits some of his uncle's possessions. Sadly, the uncle died and left Galen a note and a blacksmithing manual. He makes a new acquaintance in the new location as well.
Voulhire wasn't like Galen's kingdom, but it wasn't completely peaceful either. Under the mask, there were disturbing truths that had been quietly waiting to come to light. The king dispatches one of his trustworthy men, Lord Eldus Alderman, to improve the town. Hillport's reform was desired by Lord Eldus Alderman, a gentleman who upheld the king's religion. He even made an effort to check into the case of the former lords in an effort to ease the pain left in his people's hearts. However, the more he discovered, the more it stunned him and put him in danger. He had to decide whether to fight Meldorath or leave the village to avoid death. Was Meldorath really the most frightening mage, as the persistent rumor had it? To learn more, get a copy of this interesting book.
Because it is intriguing, I rate this novel 5 out of 5. The book's suspense is utterly fantastic and full of unexpected turns. The author has a great writing style. The development of the book's various characters was masterfully done by the author. The glossary and reference section included by the author in the book make it easier to understand the Voulhire universe, hence no negative aspect of the book found. In addition, it is exceptionally well edited. I found neither grammar nor spelling mistakes while reading it.
Because it thoroughly explores a fantastic and adventurous universe based on imagination, science, philosophy, and spirituality, I highly recommend this book to fans of science fiction books, particularly fantasy and magical tales.
