Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a magical, fictional book with an amazing plot and setting that revolve around Galen, a character filled with action who has just left a land ravaged by war for a country where he has to inherit a lot from his uncle. This book is captivating as it employs different elements of writing.
An emperor has four sons who have an equal right to the throne. He is known as the Emperor of Lullabies. The emperor came with the suspicion that his sons would plot to kill him to get the throne. He went ahead and removed them from the palace and gave them an island with an army. Soon enough, there was a war on the island. The condition became worse. Galen sought to go to Voulhire only to discover the bulk of the wealth he has to inherit. The kingdom of Voulhire is a magnificent and strange place. How would Galen cope here? Grab a copy.
Galen is a very amazing character. I enjoyed how the author took the time to ensure that he was filled with life. I love the flow of the book from the beginning, telling us about how the kingdom was created and how the war started. The author was able to create different pictures out of this book. I was carried away as though watching it live. I love the method of writing and also the tools employed to make the book easy, such as the maps and the roles played by each character at the start of the book. The chapter title was clearly defined. I love the cover page and the title of the book. It already summarizes what the story is about. I also appreciate the fact that the book was error-free, which only proves the book was well-edited.
At some places in the book, I was lost. For example the conversation between Galen on his way to Voulhire with his fellow travelers. It was out of context and only added to the volume of this book. Also, the character's name was difficult to keep up with; it was complex and also difficult to pronounce. These were the only displeasing things I encountered while reading.
Following what has been said above, I cannot rate this book less than 5 out of 5 stars. I strongly recommend this book to lovers of nonfiction, mysteries, and magic.
