Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies written by Matthew Tysz is a fantasy and science fiction. King Eldus, accused of certain crimes by a mage, inherited the kingdom of Voulhire. Saint Indus, Voulhire's founder, was also guilty of certain atrocities. He was successful in bringing together many philosophies and individuals to build an empire, but many of his crimes made this accomplishment possible. The descendants of King Eldus' victims needed to be dealt with. King Eldus is not the only person who must deal with the consequences of sins committed by others, though. King Eldus' representative in the town of Hillport, Lord Eldus, was in a similar circumstance to the monarch. He was responsible for two former lords of Hillport's misdeeds. Galen, the third main character in the book, received an inheritance from his uncle. These inheritances included a home, a huge sum of cash, a forge, and a home. In this fascinating book, Matthew Tysz detailed Galen's search for a rare metal and how he might get himself involved in the conflict that might erupt in Voulhire.
The Voulhire world was beautifully created by the book's author, Matthew Tysz. This is the book's strongest feature. Voulhire has every aspect of a society that you might anticipate. They include caste structures, a functioning monarchy, and a variety of other things. These small details enhanced the story's authenticity. They gave the reader a feeling of being completely immersed in the story. It also demonstrated the author's talent as a writer. Another interesting aspect of this book is how the point of view changed in different chapters. The story was told from the views of different persons who were dealing with the fallout following the purported demise of a powerful lord. There were so many characters and they all had unique experiences in different chapters. The perspective changes gave depth to the varied stories in the book.
People with and without magic live in Voulhire. Characters without magic were disadvantageous, as the author demonstrated. Less fortunate characters were at the mercy of the wealthy. It was through these differences and shortages that the author introduced the concept of inequality.
Voulhire was also unable to discover a solution to inequality. In Voulhire, there were laws in place to prevent the misuse of privilege and authority. The powerful, however, frequently flouted and disregarded these laws. The way the author left some stories open-ended is another part of the novel that readers will like. The unfinished plot threads will give readers something to anticipate in the series' subsequent volume.
This book does not have a negative aspect. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of its fantastic plot, realistic setting, wonderful writing style, and compelling narrative structure. The book is really simple to read. I did not encounter any errors while reading this book. It was exceptionally well-edited. I recommend this book to readers of fantasy and science fiction.
