The first book in the We are Voulhire series, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a science fiction novel. Imagine a world where magicians with the ability to do miraculous feats live next to our human world. Next, envision a scenario in which we must wage war and engage in combat with these animals. This wild vision is only a small sample of the action-packed content of this book.

The tale of Galen Bray from the Realm of Princes opens the book. Heavily armed civil conflict has left his hometown in less than ideal condition. He receives a message from his dying uncle telling him to go collect his fortune. He must go a great distance to the Land of Voulhire, the center of the action, as a result of this communication. He discovers immediately upon entering the earth that Voulhire is a peculiar realm. Rowan, the executor his uncle had appointed, helped him through the inheritance and familiarization processes. He quickly becomes familiar with the politics and vices of the realm. He automatically joins the fight in Voulhire for a brighter future. Fighting individuals in his administration who are against him presents a difficulty for King Wilhem. Also, he foolishly initiates a battle with the Caromentis magicians. He is in a challenging situation, but is he smart enough to overcome these obstacles?

I'll start by saying that Matthew did a fantastic job in this book. The writing was of the highest caliber, and the originality was flawless. He wonderfully detailed the settings and people in the novel, giving them the life and realism they sorely needed. The creativity was extraordinary, particularly about Caromentis. I kept seeing this fantastical setting with fantastical characters. I was even more astounded when he created a strategic conflict between these two realms. I kept turning the pages because it was exhilarating. I also appreciated that the tales were real since they were not only about the violence but also the emotions evoked by the various settings and personalities.

The author's decision to narrate the tales from several viewpoints was a wise one. It offered the reader a variety of perspectives on the fantastical country of Voulhire. Without the glossary on the book's first few pages, I would have been lost and confused throughout the tales. They provided helpful advice and were terrific resources. One of the aspects of this novel that I liked was Galen's likable, courageous, and likable character.

Some of the book's terrible passages did not appeal to me, but I see how important they were to moving the plot along. Hence, they won't have an impact on how I feel about the book as a whole. I gave it a perfect five out of five stars since I adored everything else about it. I didn't find any problems, so the editing is really good. I'd suggest this book to fans of science fiction and fantasy. It's intriguing to magic enthusiasts as well.
