We Are Voulhire: An Arrival Under Great Skies is a Sci-fi/Fantasy novel written by Matthew Tysz. It is the first volume from the series "We Are Voulhire".

The Kingdom of Voulhire is ruled by King Wilhelm Arcolo. He is dearly loved by his people. Voulhire is quickly becoming prosperous, and the people attribute this feat to King Wilhelm. Galen Bray is a young man who lives in the Land of the Princes. This land is known for war, starvation, and poverty. Galen successfully absconds from this land. Lord Eldus Alderman was a judge in Soulhire. He has a reputation for being fair. He has been sent to Hillport by the king to revive the dying economy. This book contains strong elements of magic, political tussles, and royalty.

Galen Bray discovers that he is the heir to his uncle's fortune—an uncle that he only recently learned about. He arrives at Magnum Caelum, where he meets Rowan, his uncle's estate executor. This volume of the series lays the foundation for the other parts of the book. It involves a lot of worldbuilding and character development. The author introduces the Kingdom of Voulhire and leaves enough suspense to anticipate the rest of the series.

I enjoyed every bit of this novel. I found it to be very peculiar and intriguing. The book provides vivid descriptions that make the plot, settings, and characters easy to follow. The story is told through multiple POVs, thus it does not cast a particular protagonist. Galen was easily my favorite character. He is kind and innocent. He seems to possess abilities yet to be harnessed. The map that was provided at the beginning of the book was very much appreciated. It allowed me to easily understand the layout of the city.

This book is bereft of any negativity. I did not encounter anything to dislike about this book. The book captured and held my interest. I was totally in awe of the Kingdom of Voulhire. There were no challenges during my reading experience. I am very eager to read the rest of the series.

Finally, I wholeheartedly rate this brilliant novel 5 out of 5 stars. I did not find any reason to give it a lower rating. It was devoid of typographical and grammatical errors, thus it was exceptionally well-edited. The author deserves praise for this fantastic work. I encourage readers interested in fantasy and magic to give this book a read. The book contains some profanities, so I do not recommend it to young readers.
