Review of Terms of Service
Kim recalled the day she started working at The Artificial Intelligence Company five years ago. She had been thrilled to have a career working with the AIs. But it had been a disappointment when she was assigned to assist in the training of the operational automata, simple gadgets incapable of independent thought. This job had turned into an endless slog over recent years. Her life quickly became dull and monotonous, and with this came a feeling of emptiness. She went on living this way, drinking herself to sleep every night in an effort to fill the void.
Kim was delighted but worried when she learned that her best friend Shan was returning. The Terms of Service were a set of stringent rules guiding the conduct of humans in society, and any violation of these rules led to swift punishments by the AIs. Kim had done a good job abiding by these rules for quite some time now. She had built a life that she was proud of. But she was now worried about Shan's return, worried that she would lose everything she had worked for because whenever Shan was around, they always seemed to get into trouble. Shan was prone to making rash decisions that easily led to violations of the Terms of Service, and this brought trouble. Find out how Kim's life takes a huge turn with the return of her best friend in this outstanding piece by Craig W. Stanfill.
This book had a lot of wonderful aspects. As a huge fan of technology and artificial intelligence, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the entire plot. The author demonstrated extensive knowledge in the field of technology by smoothly laying out all concepts related to data, machines, robots, and virtual reality. The reading experience was further enhanced by the author's clear writing style and explanation of concepts when needed. Although the beginning was a little slow for me, the rest of the book would undoubtedly have readers anticipating more with each turn of the pages. It would take the readers' imaginations on an adventure-filled ride of what life in a completely AI-dominated society would be like.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. I adored how the protagonist, Kim, evolved over the course of the story and ultimately found meaning in her life. It was also heartwarming to witness her and Kimberly's relationship develop. I commend the author's creativity in this work; it takes remarkable talent to develop such a plot, rendered as simple as possible for the readers to understand. I was truly fascinated by the idea of AI being integrated into every facet of human life. As I found no errors while reading this book, I believe it is safe to say that it was excellently well-edited. With everything I've mentioned, I give Terms of Service a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend it to anyone interested in science fiction. If you're anything like me, you would also enjoy the book's use of artificial intelligence and technology.
