In Chaos and Consequences by Nathan Earl Doverspike, the life of Kai Stormbringer, a hired bounty hunter and an Aetherial, changes because of one event.

There are two things Kai Stormbringer knows how to do well: run and self-destruct. He's been running for a long time and can't stop. This Aetherial lives in Coropolis, District 9; he spends days drinking, working, and losing friends and helpers. His life changes, and it comes in the form of another Aetherial — Lilliana Rose. As they journey out of Coropolis with a determined soldier on their trail, Kai must decide whether to stand and fight or self-destruct.

Chaos and Consequences is a sci-fi book with fantasy embedded in it. It features humans, and fictional beings called the Praugs and Rhonars. The creatures have distinct features, lifestyles, and lives on their planets. However, they play specific roles in the plot's development and the lead character's adventures.

The author created characters with a moral compass that didn't lead them to do what is good or bad but what is necessary. It was interesting to read as Lilliana made decisions based on that belief.

While this book didn't bring the nail-biting tension or heart-pounding reaction, it was packed with excitement and intrigue. From the first chapter to the end, you'll find yourself asking questions, getting answers for some, and being in the dark for others. Kai was constantly faced with critical, life-threatening decisions. At each turn, I'd pause to guess what he would do next. Well, to the author's credit, I was mostly wrong.

One thing I noticed about the book is that it starts from the middle of the plot. The backstory and truth are not presented upfront; instead, they are sprinkled throughout the book, making it more straightforward for readers and sparking curiosity. It is a significant risk for authors to take. However, Nathan ensures readers are clear about what happens at every point in the story.

I enjoyed the storytelling. The plot was exciting to follow, but the storytelling took the cake. This book was written so that even non-sci-fi readers would enjoy it, as its descriptions were not overwhelming. It was also written to immerse the reader into the story and the feelings and thoughts of the characters.

I loved everything about this book. The ending cliffhanger created an exciting anticipation of what would come next. I'd love to read the next installment.

This book had nothing for me to dislike, and I'd recommend it to sci-fi and fantasy fiction lovers. Chaos and Consequences was professionally edited. I'd rate it 5 out of 5 stars for all the positive reasons I listed above.

This sounds like it has potential to be a pretty big sci-fi book. Thanks for a great review!

I'd like to say I love the name Kai Stormbringer, and I’ve recently fallen in love with sci-fi books.

I took a chance on this book - and I was unfortunately very disappointed, personally. I found the characters to be overly depressing and unlikable, and it was hard to root for any of them. Blatant reskinning of Star Wars with the Aether being this universe's Force, the name of Kai Stormbringing being subbed in for Luke Skywalker, an energy sword that's essentially a lightsaber, a rhino dude instead of Chewbacca being the first ones that come to mind on an extensive list, it overall gives it an unoriginal feeling to the universe.

It gave me vibes that this may have been originally a Star Wars fanfic that had just enough aspects changed to avoid legal issues. (I know this is a popular thing to do lately with fanfics.)

Perhaps it is just me, but I was overall not impressed. To each their own, but wanted to voice the opposite side for those who are curious and looking into this book.

This book sounds intriguing. An adventurous sci-fi book with an impeccable storyline portraying the roles of each character well played. It must have a lot of suspense. Thanks for your great review.
