Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is set in the fictional world of Voulhire. The plot revolves around a group of characters from various walks of life who are brought together by fate and become embroiled in a conflict that threatens the very existence of their world.
The plot follows the journey of Galen, a young man who finds himself transported to Voulhire following the outbreak of war in the Land of Princes. He discovers that Voulhire is a magical, wonderful, and exciting world, but it is also fraught with political intrigue and danger. His late uncle had provided him with an opportunity in Voulhire, so he met his uncle's executor, Rowan, who assisted him in settling in the city. Galen has a fast start, but new challenges emerge, causing him to struggle once more. Another storyline in this book is the story of Lord Meldorath, who haunted the people of Hillport, but the new leader, Lord Eldus Alderman, tends to kill the fear instilled in the people of Hillport and restore normalcy to the city. Reading this book will allow you to witness all of the thrilling scenes.
The book is rich in world-building and complex characters, and it explores themes like power, identity, and the cost of rebellion. It's the first in a series, and it sets the stage for a larger story full of adventure and intrigue. The author's writing style is engaging and immersive, allowing the reader to quickly become invested in the story and its characters. The book is fast-paced, with plenty of action and suspense, but it also takes the time to explore the characters' emotional struggles and personal growth. Another thing I liked about this book was how well it was set. The author included maps that helped to make the setting more realistic and the political structure more understandable.
I liked that the author gave the characters enough depth and also provided a list of the characters to help me read this book, but there are so many different characters and storylines to follow that it lacks a clear central focus. Because I was completely disconnected, it was difficult for me to become invested in the plot. This was the only drawback I found while reading this book.
This book gets 5 out of 5 stars from me because of the amazing setting and other positive aspects I mentioned in my review. This book was exceptionally well-edited, so it was error-free. It's a thrilling and imaginative adventure, magic, and self-discovery story that will appeal to fans of epic fantasy and heroic quests. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy and adventure stories.
