Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a fantasy novel by Matthew Tysz. The novel delves into issues of authority, corruption, and redemption. The author digs into the dark side of political power and the human cost of unrestrained ambition through the perspective of the protagonists. At the same time, the work addresses the possibility of redemption, as well as the power of hope and love to transcend even the worst adversity. The book presents a realistic representation of current society, describing how the quest for power has gravely harmed it and harmed the lives of all individuals, particularly those who are poor.
The story follows a group of people from various origins who are pulled together by fate as they negotiate the political games and perils of their society. Meldorath, a key figure who emerges early in the plot, is a strong wizard, former general, and friend of the monarch. Soon after toppling Lord Orlin of Hillport, King Wilhelm of Voulhire imprisons him and sentences him to death. His death remains a mystery and is called into doubt throughout the first half of the novel. Another figure in the novel is Galen Bray, an immigrant from the Lands of Princes. He travels to Voulhire to start a new life and is handed an inheritance by his deceased great-granduncle, who bequeathed him his estate and forge as the only remaining family member. He can traverse this new environment with the assistance of Rowan, his late uncle's executor. Read the book to find out more.
I like the author's ability to build a fully realized and highly detailed world that is both plausible and engaging. From the ecosystems and cultures to the civilizations and political institutions, every aspect of Voulhire has been thoroughly constructed and analyzed. Readers will get completely involved in this imaginative universe, as well as invested in the people and their hardships.
I don't have anything to dislike about this book. It was a delightful read.
Overall, I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It has an excellent read; I wasn't dissatisfied with the finale. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy. It's a well-written narrative with a rich and complex universe, interesting characters, and lots of action and intrigue. I would also recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy.
