Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill introduces us to a "utopic" world where the AIs have controlled some aspects of human life, bringing the human race equality by cancelling individuality. We follow the story of Kim, a somewhat normal citizen, Kim is part of an organization that controls the AIs and lives a rather modest life. Even though she is perfectly aware of her luck for having the job she has and her (overall) good life, she cannot stop feeling empty and sad. When one day an old friend comes into her life again, Kim will find that her life might be more special than she first thought and deal with the consequences of finding out.

Something about this book that I just need to hype up right off the bat is how well explained and detailed the development of AI is narrated, you can tell that it was written by someone who knows about the topic and worked with them at some point. I truly appreciated the logical explanation. This novel made me remember the OG Orwellian novels such as 1984 or Happy world but in a refreshing and actualized way. As I said, the main character works inside one of the companies that make the world as it is, and is interesting that instead of a revolution from the outside we can see how and why works as it does. Kim is a complex character, I found myself reordering what I thought I knew about her along with the book, she has great character development.

This book uses an interesting structure on pronouns, since all of the humans use she/her pronouns, that might be a little confusing at the start but once you get used to it’s not more complicated than that, it also contains some sexual scenes with no more than a general description, either way, I would rate it as PG-13. Overall I don't have any negative comments about it.

For this reason, my rating is 5 out of 5 stars. Overall the book is really good, I think it has a good pace and a good main character. The argument is really interesting and easy to follow. I’m looking forward to the second part to follow the journey of Kim and the consequences of her actions.

Hands down this is a must-read for people who like AI technology, the attention to detail of their building and how they work is truly amazing; Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill is perfect for people who enjoy Orwellian novels, and science fiction and is up for a good moral debate.
