Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
War is part of human nature, and disagreements exist where people leave due to differences in personal interests and ideologies. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz starts us off with the escape of a young man Galen Bray from the land of the princes, which raged with war. He settles in Voulhire, which he finds very different from his homeland. Different in how people lived and the advancement of the new place. This new land was a fortune to Galen because his uncle, a great blacksmith, left his inheritance to him. Rowan was also assigned to teach him his uncle's work to keep it running. The author unfolds to his audience the incidents happening in Voulhire, such as the rumors about mage Meldorath being alive and his magic that torments people.
This book is the first in the We are Voulhire series. The author managed to do a good introduction that made me want to read the other series. He portrayed the use of magic, which was scary at some point, greed, and many mysteries in the land of Voulhire.
I liked the book's plotting and how the author divided it using the characters' names; this made it easier for me to follow and understand. Also, with the many characters in this book, the author describes each of them vividly with their role. My favorite character in this book was Rowan. I liked his comic nature and his patience with Galen. The only thing the author missed out on writing this book was that he did not dwell so much on Galen's story, yet he seemed to be the main character.
During my reading, I did not encounter any grammatical mistakes. The author professionally edited the book, and he also did a great job in the plotting. It also had a perfect flow, and there was no point it lost its momentum. I, therefore, rate We are Vuolhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies 5 out of 5 stars. There was no point I disliked reading this book. The author also provided a reference guide at the end of the book to help the reader understand phrases that might be difficult to comprehend during their reading.
In recommendation, this book would fit those who love reading enthralling stories and fantasies about magic. It may upset young readers below 18 due to the murder scenes and violence present. A part from young readers anybody can read it because it is captivating and worth a glimpse of.
