Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a book containing elements of mystery and fantasy. It revolves around a land where magic dwells, mages live amidst commoners, and the fight for power is dominant.
Galen found his way to Voulhire after being chased by his enemies in the Land of Princes. He was to take over his recently dead uncle’s blacksmithing job. Meanwhile, Lord Meldorath, a powerful and feared mage, executes a coup on the current Lord of Hillport, Orlin, after discovering his ill-treatment towards his citizens. Therefore, Meldorath became the new Lord of Hillport. However, it turns out Meldorath was worse than Lord Orlin and used his magic to perform experiments on his citizens, and they dreaded him for this. Discovering this, the King, a close associate of Meldorath, sends him to a unique prison where he cannot cause more damage and appoints a noble leader to heal the wound these past lords have inflicted on Hillport. Do you think Meldorath, the highly feared mage, will resurface again? How is Galen entangled in this story? Read this book by Matthew Tysz to know more about this story.
This book is the first instalment of the We are Voulhire series. It begins by introducing readers to the characters and their roles. Each chapter of the book focuses on a particular character. There was a map showing the fictional world of Voulhire. Those who wish to continue reading other books in the series can redirect using the links provided in the book. There was a glossary of terms and concepts unique to the world of Voulhire. Due to the need to read the other novels in the series, this book cannot be read alone.
There was no particular problem I had with this book. I enjoyed it, and the experience was like watching a fantasy movie. The book’s ending was suspenseful, and I believe any other reader would be instantly thrilled to get the next one in the series. I also like that the book is brief and features magic. I appreciate the work of the author in this series. It was exceptionally well-edited, as I came across no errors. I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy novels. I believe the whole series will take readers on an adventure filled with suspense. The book made quite complex use of words, making it unsuitable for young readers.
