The peace of the Great Kingdom of Vouhire is threatened as the Riva Rohavi, archenemies of the kingdom, meet in secret and grow in strength and numbers, but the threat to peace is not just external.

Within the kingdom, fear and unrest grow in the hearts of the citizens after Lord Meldorath, a powerful mage and former Lord of a city in Voulhire who practiced dark magic, is arrested and killed. This should be good news for the people of Voulhire, but the evidence of his death is not convincing enough, and rumors are starting to spread. The people believe that Lord Meldorah is alive and well and that he is coming for them. Galen, an immigrant from the perilous lands of the princes, is in Voulhire to carry out his uncle's dying wish that he inherit his business and continue his legacy. It's a vast improvement from the life he was used to, and he is just thankful to be free from the chaos in his native country. However, fate can be cruel, and Galen might have stumbled upon something that could make his peace fleeting.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies was a good read for me. I became attracted to several of the characters in the book since they all had such unique and interesting personalities, but Galen Bray and Lord Eldus stood out as my favorites. Galen was a brave and honorable man, and I admired the way he steadfastly stood up for what he thought was right. Lord Eldus won a special place in my heart because of the way he treated his family and how he handled the task assigned to him by the king; he did everything with love, care, and dedication and paid attention to his people. Both Galen and Lord Eldus share the admirable quality of being soft without being weak, making them stand out as likable characters in the book.

I did not dislike anything about this book because Matthew Tysz did a fantastic job writing it. It had an incredible plot and was everything a fantasy book ought to be. I also loved that the key characters were introduced on a separate page before the first chapter; this made reading the book more entertaining because I already knew who they were before I met them.

Because of the aforementioned factors, I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It was a terrific start to the series since it had just the right amount of tension to set up a sequel. I recommend this book to fans of magic and fantasy.

I've always been one to fall in love with stories relating to the days of old where they were castles horses, magical powers and kings. This is really nice.
