Terms of Service by Craig W Stanfill is a dystopian novel about a world where artificial intelligence rules over humans. The main character Kim lives in a world where strict rules and regulations must be followed. There are various consequences if someone breaks a rule. The people of this world are closely monitored and are not allowed to indulge in selfish activities, such as choosing a love partner, showing emotion, or simply thinking of themself. The book takes you through Kim’s life, doing her best to follow the rules, living her life day-by-day, and enjoying life as best as she can. However, she can't seem to shake the feeling that something is missing. Kim hangs out with Shan, an old friend, and starts to rethink what the AIs have told her versus what she believes to be true. She is left choosing between a life of pure loneliness and following commands, or fighting against Artificial Intelligence and deciding her future.

I enjoyed reading this book. I think it was well written and gives you a taste of what human life may look like if we rely more on technology than ourselves. The author has a Ph.D. in this topic, and you can tell by the writing how much thought and research went into the story. I think great books become the best when you can tell from the pages how passionate the author is about what they are writing about. Without passion and emotion, the world will be empty and lonely. I liked how the book touched on how humans can’t help but have feelings and emotions and think for themselves. In Kim’s world, it’s considered a flaw, but in our world, emotions make us all different.

I have nothing negative to say about this book. I found no errors and believe it was professionally edited. If I wanted to change anything about the book, I would hope the people Kim and Shan meet come back in the end. Maybe that is what the next book is about, and I am excited to find out.

Overall, I think this was an excellent book and I highly recommend it. I typically read more fantasy than Sci-Fi novels, but I was happily surprised with this novel. For this, I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

This book does have slight profanity and sexual content and may not be best suited for young adults to read. I think this book is a good read for any adult who loves Sci-Fi novels, artificial intelligence dystopian novels, or someone who loves a story that challenges authority.
