We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz revolves around the nation of Voulhire. Several changes occur in the small town of Hillport and the life of Galen Bray. Hillport is a town in the south of Voulhire. It lost two corrupt lords within six months: Lord Orlin, who ruled for five years, and Lord Meldorath, an ex-general who ruled for only three months. Lord Orlin was killed by the citizens for his indecent acts against children, and Lord Meldorath was imprisoned for toying with human lives.

King Wilhelm appointed Lord Eldus Alderman as the new lord of Hillport. Lord Eldus and his family have seen the potential in the town and are determined to make it achieve economic growth. Meanwhile, Galen arrived at Magnum Caelum and, with the help of his uncle's executor, is trying to learn the art of smithing. Will Lord Eldus succeed? How will he help the people of Hillport heal from the acts of their former lords? What lies ahead for Galen? Read the book to find out.

Matthew Tysz had an interesting way of titling chapters. It gave the reader a clue about who or what the chapter's main focus is. I loved the character list, map, and glossary provided in the book. With the map, I understood the journey Galen and Rowan took from Magnum Caelum to Alcovia to Yamon Soul and back to Magnum Caelum. It cleared my confusion when they passed Hillport on their way from Yamon Soul, but there was no mention of it on the journey to Alcovia. I also loved how the backstory of Riva Rohavi was told. The reader now has the choice to decide for themselves if the actions of Riva Rohavi are justified or not.

I disliked how the events in the chapters did not flow accordingly. That is, how one chapter talks about Hillport; in the next chapter, King Wilhelm is introduced; and in the next chapter, we journey with Galen as he embarks on a journey to his new life. It took me a while to understand the lack of pattern.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is because other than the unexpected switch from different people's perspectives, there was nothing to dislike. I found no errors, which shows that this book is amazingly well-edited. I loved the author's writing style. It was quite explicative. The characters and plots were well-developed.

I recommend this book to people who enjoy books on magic and mages, war and politics, or just plain adventure.

Very great review I must say. My favorite character from the moment I read the book was Galen and it was so and I was interested in his journey from the land of the princes towards what is supposed to be a better life for him. Great review.
